It is a competitive world out there; employees are fighting for the best jobs and the employers are fighting for the best talent. On March 15, first time since opening up in Cracow, a couple of our colleagues from ALK GBSC have participated in a career fair – Career Days® hosted by AIESEC.
AIESEC is a student-run nonprofit focusing on contributing to social mobility and lifelong education for all. Every year, the career fair attracts 43.000 students and around 430 exhibitors. In addition to connecting students and companies, career fairs present a great opportunity to meet and network with other corporations from the industry, thus further establishing ALK’s position in the business community.
The value of presence
In an increasingly digitalized world, the value of face-to-face contact continues to be an important asset in terms of employee attraction. “Contrary to popular belief, career fairs are not dead. In fact, they are alive and well — and employers of all sizes and specialties find them extremely useful, because it offers them a way to present their companies in a positive light, and create buzz around their employer brand,” says Jadwiga Alicja Krysińska, HR Business Partner.
Having a strong employer brand is key, when appealing to students and recent graduates, not the least in Cracow. “The job market in Cracow is becoming ever more competitive, and being present in this manner means that we can meet the employees before an actual need for qualified labour surfaces. This way we stay one step ahead of the competition,” says Igor Mytsak, Junior Financial Controller.
