Producing allergy immunotherapy products

Natural allergens such as pollens, dust mites, and animal epithelium are the main ingredients of our products. Every year ALK grows, collects, and harvests several tons of allergens from our fields, tree orchards and greenhouse. ALK Source Materials supplies products worldwide requiring extensive testing to meet global standards.

ALK strives to continuously improve and set the standard for allergen extract materials processing on a global scale. Our products are at an unprecedented level particularly for the allergy industry.

    Raw Materials
    ASM currently operates facilities in Pennsylvania, California, and Washington. This accounts for over 120,000 square feet of facilities and 800+ acres of exclusive farm land, giving ALK a tremendous amount of control over its raw materials.

  • HARVEST
    Collection
    These materials start as a seed and a field. The majority of the materials needed to create allergen extracts are planted, cultivated, and collected as any other agricultural crop. The allergy industry of ALK is a very green industry and consists of a lot of farming.

  • PROCESS
    Manufacturing Standards
    ALK’s success in creating the source materials lies in a completely different arena – the extensive testing, documentation, and quality control measures. All pollen batches undergo a number of tests and quality checks before being released for manufacturing. Most importantly, species identity determinations are made by ASM experts using taxonomic keys and herbarium specimens. Additionally, the pollen is examined under a microscope to further certify the collected batch for identity, purity, and integrity.

    Packaging and distribution
    Following careful quality control, the finished products are labelled, packaged and distributed.
